Two hours before lunch time, Joel’s campers wanted to play a friendly game of dodgeball on the tennis court; they had nothing else to do and the rain had stopped. The eight kids split up into two teams, both of which begged Joel to join.

“But if I did that, they wouldn’t be even,” Joel tried to reason.

“But, dude,” Timmy said, “you’re huge! You’re, like, seven feet tall! And you’re big!

“Gee, thanks,” Joel rolled his eyes. “How about this, I’m on no one’s team so that… I can pulverise anyone I want!” He took one of the balls and threw it. The kids hooted at the thought. Suddenly, balls were flying everywhere.

“Hey,” one kid said suddenly, silencing the rest of them, “who’re those girls over there?”

The game paused and Joel looked over. His heart pounded within his chest at the sight of her. Georgina looked so pretty with her hair curled like that and she looked especially attractive when six girls clutched both of her arms.

“Hey, guys!” she waved and offered her good-natured smile which always came naturally to her – one of her many beautiful traits. “Mind if we join ya?”

“O- of- of course!” Joel couldn’t help the bashful grin spreading on to his face, “sure! Yeah! New rule, guys!” he announced. “Every man for himself!”

The kids immediately went into savage-mode. Some of the girls joined in, matching their voices to those of battle, others stayed behind Georgina.

“Go get ‘em, girls! Show ‘em the true meaning of GIRL POWER! HI-YA!” she chucked a ball at one of Joel’s kids and nailed him. Laughing hard, she turned to her right. “Hey, Erika, you’re playing too, right?”

Erika?! Joel looked over and to his horror, his childhood enemy glared at him from across the court.

“Sure,” Erika said coolly, picking up a ball that had strayed to her feet, “I don’t mind getting revenge for this morning.” An evil gleam flickered in her eye and she hurled the ball right at Joel. He was so stunned at her sudden ferocity that the ball smacked him in the jaw.

“Why you…!” a wicked glimmer suddenly awakened inside of him and every ball Joel found on the ground or snatched out of the air, he sent flying at Erika.

The heated game continued, Erika and Joel spitting insults at each other. It eventually got to the point where Georgina had to interrupt them.
