I was so worried about the fact that lots of other vampires like Aubur would be roaming the streets of the town Fallon was going to. Vampires that didn't know what she was, but could smell her human blood and use her as a snack. "Don't be so tense Marie." My husband, Aubur said softly in my ear. "We both knew this day would come." "I know." I say, turning to face him. "I just didn't know it would come so soon. I want to keep her safe Aubur, but I don't think I can."
He had an grim smile on his flawless face. "I don't think there's anything more we can do for her now Marie. She's grown up and has to learn to live without her parent's tender-loving care all the time. You know there's going to be a time when we will no longer be there to help her, or tend to all her sorrows. Fallon is a young woman now, and she has to start living it, or she'll never be ready."
He opens his arms and I walk into them, tears sliding down my face as I realize the message in his voice. "So..." I say weakly into Aubur's chest, "He's finally found us, hasn't he?" "Yes." He manages to say, his voice thick with threatening tears. He releases me and looks lovingly into my eyes. "After 23 years of hiding, the Unholy Vampire Emperor has finally found the both of us." I start to panic. "But what about Fallon!" I screech. "Calm down, honey." He says soothingly. "He has no idea that Fallon even exists. For all he knows, we are alive, and need to be punished for my past." "Thank the Gods!" I say, plopping down onto the couch.
"The only thing I still don't get is why he'd punish me as well as you though." I murmur thoughtfully. "It's because you are with me, dearest. I chose to marry and run off with you, instead of marrying my selected bride. He wants to punish you for stealing away his only child, me. He's going to punish you for loving me, and me for loving you and not my betrothed." Aurbur says quietly from the other side of the room, clenching his hands into fists at the thought of being the son of a mass murdering vampire lord who, in fact, wants us both punished for eloping and running away. The punishment being our deaths.
I walk over to him and place my hand tenderly on his brazen cheek. "We'll make it through this, together." I say as he puts his index finger under my chin and raises my lips to meet his in a soft, passionate kiss.
"Together." He whispers before walking off...
