Walgra snarled as another hunk of black rocked sizzled over his horned head. Saleen stroked the disgruntled dragon and looked up at his friend.

“Won’t you go out for a bit? Seems you need some fresh air,” Saleen suggested.

There was a loud crunching sound as black rock gave way under his powerful hold. “There’s too much to do here.” Hell blew the crumbled rock away and grinned at the twinkling white stone in his hand.

Saleen stood and approached him. “Hell, you need to get out. You’re wasting away here.”

Hell stood and stretched. “What makes you say that?”

“Seriously?” Saleen pointed to a four- foot pile of diamonds. “Need I say more?”

Hell sighed heavily. “Maybe you’re right.” He apologized to Walgra as we walked by. “I guess I’ve just been restless lately.”

They walked through the main hall and turned into a small dusty room with neon blue lights. To Saleen it smelled of things old and musty. Plant roots snaked through every nook and cranny and made the room seem like it was trying to grab you. A young man with a pasty complexion and sunken eyes was staring at the wall. A horned demon with grayish skin bowed as Hell approached. Hell bowed back and proceeded through the doorway. On the other side was a white padded room. Saleen looked at him.

“You want to go to the human world?”

There was a pop sound as Hell pushed his horns into the side of his head. “Yeah. Why not?” His burnt sienna skin began to change to a honey tan and his fangs shortened.

Saleen also began to transform. His black talons shortened and his long black hair shortened to a curly crew cut. “Those despicable sub creatures –“

“Now, now, Saleen. If it weren’t for us and the angels influencing them at our every whim, they’d probably be okay.” He checked his appearance and smiled with satisfaction.

Saleen scoffed, tightening the belt on his black cargo shorts. “Shows they’re weak.”

The entrance to the human world opened into a crowded street. People were hustling to their destinations. Hell turned to Saleen. His demonic eyes changed into a sparkling green like the humans. He gave Saleen the thumbs up on his outfit. “You look like a British rocker, “he teased.

Saleen gave him the finger.

“Don’t be so surly, Saleen. Perhaps angels and demon s are just stronger than we think.” Purple lightning outlined his body as he stepped through the barrier and onto the sidewalk. Saleen shook his head and followed.

“Whatever.”
