Emma is pretty laid back. She babysits, has a decent home life, a sweet best friend, and loving parents. There's really to be worried about. But things took a surprising turn when she got the phone call... but let's start at the beginning...
"Hey, Emma! What are you up to?" Alex asks. I smile, happy to hear his voice. Even if it's only over the phone.
"Not much. I'm about to leave. I have to go to work. I'm babysitting Dinnai and Nick tonight," I say, laughing quietly.
"Oh yeah! How are the little demons, anyway?" He asks, sounding a bit disgusted. He helped me last time I went, and Dinnai was sick. She threw up on him and he's still upset. Personally, I thought it was funny.
"They're doing great. Dinnai got over that stomach bug, finally. What are you up to?"
He laughs. "Missing you. Do you think I can come help again?"
"I thought you were never babysitting again, especially after she threw up on your favorite shirt?" I ask, genuinely confused.
"It's my mom again..." He mutters quietly. I sigh and shake my head.
"Okay, you can come. But make sure you wear something you don't mind getting dirty," I say, trying to lighten the mood.
He gives a strained laugh. "I'll make sure. When can you get here?"
I roll my eyes. "Alex, I literally live right down the road from you. I'll start walking now, and you can meet me halfway."
"Fair enough. See you in a minute, I guess," He says, sounding reluctant.
"See ya." I hang up and smile. This boy could be the death of me, I swear.
